The Punch Bowl Inn

The Punch Bowl was originally a 17th century coaching inn and when the popular long-term landlord died in late 2012 , the loyal locals worked together as volunteers to keep the pub open. It is now a successful Community Pub , regularly donating its profit to local good causes. The Punch Bowl is very much a drinkers pub with 2 hand pumps and is run by a committee that including some CAMRA members. With Great Guest Beers and Happy Hour , no food just crisps & snacks but it is well worth a visit or 2 during your stay in the village. Open Wed to Sun.

Ravenstone Manor Hotel

Here is our own dear Molly enjoying the wonderful view at Ravenstone Manor while we enjoyed some delicious food. Molly loves how dog friendly it is here and our favourite dishes are the Borrowdale Steak & Ale Suet Crust Pie & Chips & the Homemade Chicken Tikka Masala. We also booked & enjoyed a Lovely Family Afternoon Tea for a party of 12 (& 3 dogs)

A family favourite for 50 years when as a child Roger had to sit outside but times have moved on since then at this 17th century coaching inn. Delicious locally sourced food and drinks. Aspava Turkish Restaurant

Set on Main Street Aspava offer an authentic Turkish dining experience from food to decor to staff. Freshly prepared to order from local produce and from imported Turkish ingredients they specialise in all Turkish dishes with a selection from the area from where the owners are from – Gaziantep in South East Turkey. This is family favourite of ours, from Meze to Baklava you will not be disappointed. Originally in its own courtyard off the Main Street, we can confirm that its is just as good, if not better, following the move with Mehmet and Tracey still running this “Gem of a Turkish Restaurant”

The Broughton Craggs Hotel

Broughton Craggs Hotel was originally built as a Gentleman’s residence in 1858. It was converted to a hotel in 1975.Above the banks of the River Derwent with rolling views over the Lakeland fells to the slopes of Skiddaw & in its own extensive grounds and gardens. Bassenthwaite Lake Station

Situated opposite the scenic Dubwath Silver Meadows nature reserve, Bassenthwaite Lake Station is a Café in a restored railway station with a full size replica steam train on the former Cockermouth to Keswick line.

Enjoy breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea aboard the replica Orient Express train. We recommend booking , the breakfast & afternoon tea are particularly delicious. They also hold regular event including Murder Mystery Evenings & Wine Tasting.

The Lowther Arms Mawbray

The Lowther Arms is a traditional country pub in the heart of Mawbray village, close to the sea on the Solway Plain in North West Cumbria. Set in peaceful countryside and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site Buffer Zone, we are surrounded by stunning views of the Lakes and Scotland. The Lowther Arms, run by a new tenant, is a cooperative and community-owned pub, saved from permanent closure and conversion to a house by the local community and over 300 shareholders. After being closed for two and a half years, the pub re-opened in June 2021, and is now more than a pub – offering a comfortable place to have a drink, morning coffee, enjoy a delicious home cooked meal with a beer garden that has stunning views of the Lake District.

The Swinside Inn is a traditional, atmospheric, family-run, and dog-friendly pub located in the beautiful setting of The Newlands Valley. It is a great place to stop off after an exciting, exhausting day out when you want to relax and enjoy filling, home-cooked grub without having to remove your walking boots or worry about what you’re going to do with the dog. The pub garden boasts one of the best views in the Lakes, making it the perfect place to unwind and take in the scenery.

The Royal Yew - Dean

The Royal Yew is a Cumbrian Country Pub with added flair, and it’s home to the Original Cow Pie. The food at this pub is everything you would expect and more, with mouth-watering dishes freshly prepared using the very best Lake District ingredients. If you’re a pie lover, we highly recommend the Famous Cow Pie. However, only the brave and very hungry will manage the full portion. We recommend a half portion so you will have room for a delicious dessert.

The Stag Inn Crosby

Offering a diverse menu to suit all tastes; from traditional local and English cuisine to more exotic recipes with a touch of originality. Using meat, poultry, fish, vegetables and potatoes are sourced from local butchers and suppliers, all dishes are freshly made on the premises and cooked to order. It’s Dog Friendly too in the bar, but we recommend booking for Sunday Lunch.
