🐾 Dog Friendly Holidays

🐾 Dog Friendly Holidays

We are dog owners ourselves and would love you to bring your dogs to share in the enjoyment of your holiday in this beautiful part of the country.

We would prefer not to have lots of rules because we realise that dogs are very much part of people’s families. However, Coldgill View is very much part of our family too, and some guests visit without dogs, so we simply ask that it’s looked after with care during your stay.

🐕 Bringing Your Dog

We welcome up to 3 dogs per stay free of charge. If you have more canine friends you’d like to bring, please speak to us at the time of booking.

Please let us know you’ll be bringing your dog(s) when booking.

We are lucky to have wonderful walks, lakes and beaches close by to enjoy in all weathers – it really is a bit of a dog paradise.

🌿 The Garden – Safe & Secure for Dogs

We know one of the biggest concerns when travelling with dogs is how secure the garden really is — so we want to be as clear as possible.

  • The garden is fully enclosed
  • Boundaries include solid walls, fencing and gated access
  • Please ensure all gates are kept closed so your dog remains safe at all times

We have two enclosed garden areas for you to enjoy.

The south-facing garden (perfect for relaxing) is enclosed with a mix of fencing and walls, approximately 3.5ft–4ft in height, with additional fencing added along the wall boundary with our neighbours.

The rear garden is enclosed with approx. 4ft fencing and is ideal for letting your dogs out safely, particularly when arriving and unloading the car.

All gates have mesh/netting at the base to help keep smaller dogs and puppies secure.

While no garden can ever be completely escape-proof for every dog, we are confident that for most dogs — particularly those not prone to jumping — the garden provides a safe and secure space to enjoy.

🧼 After Walks & Muddy Paws

When returning from walks with muddy dogs, please use the outside tap to clean them off before allowing them back into the house.

Please bring your own “pet” towel for this purpose as none are provided, and keep dogs in the kitchen until they are clean and dry.

🛋️ Inside the House

If you do like your dog(s) to curl up with you on furniture, then please bring and use your own throws/towels.

We would ask that dogs are not allowed on beds, but please bring a bed cover if you are concerned they may jump up if this is what they are used to at home.

A stair gate is provided to help control where your dog is free to wander, and a large dog crate is also available in the second utility room if required.

🧺 Cleaning & Handy Extras

Please feel free to use the washing machine in the utility room for any pet items, but use the Petwear Wash Bag provided to prevent dog hair getting into the machine.

There are also vacuum cleaners available, including a handheld one in the cupboard under the stairs.

🏡 During Your Stay

Please avoid leaving your dogs unattended in the house. If this is necessary, we ask that they are kept in the kitchen or utility room.

Where damage is caused by dogs or pets that cannot be cleaned or repaired, guests will be responsible for the cost of replacement, which may be taken from the security deposit.

📸 And Finally…

We are confident that our guests are responsible dog owners and considerate human beings, and will look after Coldgill View for us — this has certainly been our experience to date.

And finally… if you take some happy photos of your dog enjoying their holiday, we would love to see them and may share them on our Facebook page and Google profile!
